EP Damon Lindelof spilled some details about the renewal of "The Leftovers" Season 3. However, the 3rd installment will also be the last in series on HBO. Lindelof also revealed how impressive Kevin Senior's acting skills are when it comes to cheating death.
The show is officially renewed by its home network for a 3rd installment last Thursday, December 3, 2015. Unfortunately, Inquisitr mentioned that "The Leftovers" Season 3 will be its last to air on HBO. The show's home network was certain enough to order a set of new episodes from the producers.
Regarding the series' ratings, the previous season dropped by 50% compared to the season premiere in 2014. Also, despite the slight elevation of ratings while nearing in the finale episode, the uptick went unnoticed by the executives and the HBO head Michael Lombardo.
The showrunner admitted to Hitflix stating, "The numbers of the show are known, and the truth of the matter is that the ratings are down from season 1. The reality is, everybody felt that the show was ascending a bit, creatively and ratings-wise, towards the end of the season, and the interim between the two seasons, we lost a lot of the audience coming into this year.
We actually saw an uptick in the ratings for episode 9, which I was surprised by, considering we were up against "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale and an incredible football game. I'm talking to HBO, we're going to sit down before the holidays and get a sense of where everybody's head is at. I certainly want to make more episodes of "The Leftovers"
Lindelof added, as reported by Variety, that he wanted to see more of Kevin Garvey Sr. (Scott Glenn) on set. The co-creator of the show praised Kevin's ability to cheat death impressively.
"The Leftovers" Season 3 is likely to return anytime soon in 2016 exclusively on HBO. "The Leftovers" is an American TV drama series created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta.
