‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ updates: Rockstar Games working on next RDR game with new multiplayer mode?

By

A source claiming to be a former employee of development studio Rockstar Games has spilled the beans regarding the possible sequel to 2010's "Red Dead Redemption." Aside from the development of the game, other rumors also suggest that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will have a new multiplayer feature dubbed as "Gang Mode."

Speculations about a new installment in the "Red Dead" series began after Danny Ross hosted a question and answer thread on Reddit. Some of the users asked him what future titles Rockstar Games is currently working on since Ross said he used to work for the company.

Ross then responded to the questions with the cryptic message, "Really? D******. Really? Two." Although the statement doesn't seem to mean anything, many users assumed that the phrase refers to the acronym RDR 2, which in the world of gaming could mean "Red Dead Redemption 2."

But aside from Ross, a Reddit user also mentioned that the sequel to "Red Dead Redemption" will be titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West," according to CrossMap. The upcoming game will reportedly have a multiplayer setting called Gang Mode where gamers can engage in an all-out western-style shootout.

Rumors also indicate that Rockstar Games is preparing to launch the new "Red Dead Redemption" game sometime in 2016 but it is not yet clear which consoles the game will be released for. But, given how the studio gave up on last-gen platforms regarding the content support for "Grand Theft Auto 5" and its multiplayer mode GTA Online, it seems "Red Dead Redemption 2" might only come out for the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.

However, gamers should keep in mind that all of these are just based on rumors and speculations. Neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Also, as noted by iDigital Times, the statements made by Ross regarding the game could be fake. For one, calling the upcoming game "Red Dead Redemption 2" doesn't seem to make sense. After all, "Red Dead Redemption" is already the second game in the series and the sequel to 2004's "Red Dead Redemption 2."
