Samsung is releasing its new smartphone flagship, the Galaxy S7, which will probably be released early next year. Published reports claim that the new device is just a minor upgrade from the Galaxy S6. Though, it is expected that the new smartphone will include new features that enthusiasts can consider to upgrade.
Forbes mentioned that the new device will come with a pressure-sensitive display which highlights the new device's 3D Touch. This feature is somewhat similar to Apple's product, iPhone 6S. The responsive display allows the phone to interpret different taps and touches depending on how the user presses on the touch screen, confirmed by WSJ's Jonathan Cheng.
The report added that microSD expandable storage will make a welcome return for the new devices, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. This is to give way in one of the key features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In this regard, the feature allows a user to declare an SD card permanent and format it just like internal memory. It is known that Samsung removed the MicroSD slot in its entire 2015 flagship lineup.
Another highlight of the device is the new high-speed charging port with USB Type-C charging. The new Android phone will also feature a slim line camera and a retina scanner. Engadget mentioned that Samsung considers including a retina scanner. In addition, Tech Radar reported that Galaxy S7 is expected to come with Exynos 8890 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. A related report also described its external design, in which the edges of the super-sharp screen will be properly pushed to the side of the phone.
On the other hand, it is believed that the new device shall debut in or around Mobile World Congress, which opens on February 22. According to the published report, enthusiasts can expect that the new device may cost expensively.
Meanwhile, the smartphone company does not have an official statement regarding the specs and features of its new flagship. Nonetheless, it will be an additional variant to the Galaxy series that can attract more customers once it becomes available.
