Crash Bandicoot Will Not Be Available On PS4

As much as everyone wants it to happen, it seems as if Crash Bandicoot won't be making an appearance anytime soon, despite the rampart rumors suggesting it will.

The rumors first started to spring up when the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, Shawn Layden, came to PlayStation Experience 2015 wearing the titular Crash Bandicoot on a shirt, and only started to snowball from there. Many believed that Shawn's apparent endorsement of the mascot meant that the wacky platformer series from the PS2 would be making a comeback for the PS4, with speculations on what the gameplay might be and such. And with the contradictory statements from the many developers of Crash bandicoot over the years in regards to reviving or rebooting the franchise, the presence of that particular shirt was enough to send many fans into heated debates and speculation.

But all the hype was for nothing, seeing as Sony Worldwide CEO, Shuhei Yoshida, reveals in the Q&A panel during the event that he had absolutely no idea why Layden wore the shirt, or that Layden was even going to wear that shirt in the first place. To take it even further, he responds to a tweet asking if the series was coming back with a blunt "I doubt it." which disappointed many long-time fans, and inciting many humorous, semi-serious rants about Shawn Layden successfully pranking everyone with that shirt during the event.

In other news, it seems as if Yoshida is fully endorsing Square Enix's decision to split the Final Fantasy VII Remake into episodes. As reported by Gamepur, a tweet from a fan begging him to make Square Enix change their minds, to which Yoshida responds, "really? why? That way I think you'll get a very high quality game early." This incited quite a few mixed responses from enraged fans and supportive fans alike on Twitter.
