‘Star Trek Beyond’: Paramount’s unexpected teaser release surprises fans; New approach by Justin Lin expected

By

Although the official trailer of Star Trek Beyond was supposed to hit the internet by the end of this week, Paramount has gone too excited and released the first trailer earlier than expected. Meanwhile, Justin Lin hints a new approach that is more fun and action.

A leaked video on Youtube which is in German-language version has probably made the studio released the clip before the scheduled date. The trailer was supposed to hitch a ride on this week's premiere Star Wars: The Force Awaken.

The trailer's includes dynamic action sequences, with motorcycle leaps, and of course a sweet call back song in 2009's Star Trek reboot music - "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys.

There are few goofy gags too, which may suggest that Beyond have turned away from their dark and brooding atmosphere in Star Trek Into the Darkness. Whether or not this movie will be wackier, the trailer proves to be a new kind of Star Trek compared to its recent reboots.

It is also noticeable how they changed the style of 'beaming'. The revolving beam is not there anymore and was change to somewhat like a particle dispersion.

The trailer is quick and doesn't really provide ideas to the audience as to how the film works. It is action-packed though and feels like the Fast and the Furious in space.

According to the Atlantic, Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Simon Pegg will all return to their roles from the first two films. Meanwhile, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba will join the cast, and Elba is scheduled to play the villain.

J.J Abrams got his hands full in the most-hyped sci-fi film of the millennium, Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and so Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious) will be taking over. Fans can expect a more nitro-packed Enterprise and superbly choreographed fights and chases.

Morever, the trailer looks more 'trekky' than the previous reboot. The film 'Star Trek Beyond' is set to premiere on July 22, 2016. What do you think of the first trailer?
