"The Magnificent Seven" will be set to feature Denzel Washington as the main character of the remake. Meanwhile, filming has started in Los Angeles with an established theme for the extras.
Things really go bright for Denzel Washington. After The Equalizer premiered last year, the 60-year-old actor is now casted to be part in the remake of The Magnificent Seven to be directed by Antoine Fuqua. According to Cinema Blend, Fuqua was selected as the remake's director after several talks with the MGM. Sony and Fox and approached the two-time Oscar winner Washington to take the lead role of Chris Adams, the henchmen's head chief, after series of film where his authoritative and full of grit character has been established. This would be Denzel and Antoine's third collaboration after the films Training Day in 2001 and in 2014's The Equalizer.
As reported by Vanity Fair, Washington will be collaborating with the cast that ensemble the Hollywood's biggest stars listed as the following: Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio, Matt Bomer, Wagner Moura, Haley Bennett, and Peter Sarsgaard after Jason Momoa dropped the role. Moreover, 2014's highly rated TV series True Detective's creator was also chosen to serve as the screenwriter of the modern film remake.
As reported by On Location Vacations, the team has started its principal filming last May 2015 at St. Francisville, LA where stars Chris Pratt and Matt Bomer have been seen. Also, the casting calls are more focused for themes "townsfolk" and "prostitutes at an old western brothel" and therefore, people wearing western-like clothes have free access to the set as extras.
The Magnificent Seven originally premiered in 1960 that circled about the group of seven hired gunfighters designed to protect a small village in Mexico from a ravaging team of bandits lead by their leader. The culturally preserved film is also a parody of the Japan's Seven Samurai. The 1960 original film has casted Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn and Eli Wallach which went on to have critically reviewed high ratings.
The veteran actor Denzel Washington will be expected by many to have another magnificent performance once again in this remake with the Hollywood's A-lists actors as they started the 64-day filming in May. The upcoming remake 'The Magnificent Seven' is set to be released on September 23, 2016, after a push from the expected 2017 premier.
