‘Unravel’ gameplay, price & release date: Game confirmed to arrive in February; pre-orders for Xbox One now available

Publisher Electronic Arts and development studio Coldwood Interactive have confirmed that the adorable game "Unravel" is set to debut in February of next year. It will come out on multiple platforms but Xbox One gamers can already begin pre-ordering the game.

As shown by the developers in the game's official trailer, "Unravel" follows the story of Yarny, a tiny human-like creature that's made entirely out of yarn. Using the threads from its body, Yarny can travel across different places by swinging from one tree to another or hanging onto a flying kite. But, as Yarny moves, the character's body slowly unravels.

The upcoming title is essentially a puzzle -platform game set in a realistic modern environment. This means gamers can expect to do a lot of exploring in a seemingly gigantic world. However, players will have to carefully choose the areas that they want to explore since Yarny's body will get thinner as the game progresses.

Aside from just being an adventure game, the developers explained that "Unravel" is about the strength of people's relationship with one another, which is represented by the yarn forming Yarny's body.

"Gaming is a powerful platform, able to inspire players and touch their hearts," Martin Sahlin, the creative director at Coldwood Interactive said according to Forbes. "Yarny's quest is to mend broken bonds and the yarn represents the love and connection between people."

The upcoming game is scheduled to launch on February 9, 2016, for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. According to the Major Nelson site, owners of Microsoft's next-gen console can already pre-order the game through the Xbox Store.

The game costs $19.99 and has a file size of about 113MB. The site noted that those who pre-order the game will not receive early access for "Unravel." Instead, the game will only be playable once it officially comes out.
