OnePlus 3 Leaks; Metal-clad flagship killer boasts Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 4GB RAM, iris scanner

The OnePlus 3, which would be the next flagship smartphone from the China-based tech firm, is now receiving a pile of reports. The leaked renders of this new device have reported to show that it will not look much like its forerunners.

In December 2015, early conceptual renders of the OnePlus 3 design have been leaked. Based on the leak, the trademark sandstone black seemed to be thrown away in favour of black brushed steel, writes Android Pit.

It is said that the renders were able to clearly reveal that the fingerprint scanner is not included at the base of the front of the device. Thus, it created a rumor that the company appeared to be having a plan of making new way for the device to be unlocked. It is also said that there is a possibility that the company will employ an iris-recognition technology or even an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor inserted below the screen.

According to Times of India, the new OnePlus 3 has a brushed metal back panel. The OnePlus X smartphone was the company's first handset that did not feature sandstone back as the default finish for the rear casing; hence, the OnePlus 3 could be the company's second smartphone that will not have this feature.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 3 is said to feature a Full HD panel. A few weeks ago, it has been uncovered that its power will be supplied by the Snapdragon 820 chipset.

As for other specs, a 5.5-inch display is being rumored to be featured on the upcoming OnePlus 3 flagship smartphone. However, a resolution that is more than Full HD may not be expected in order to have this phone a budget-friendly price where the OnePlus line is known for, Christian Today noted.

Furthermore, the OnePlus 3 will come bundled with 4GB RAM on board as well as a possible 128 GB storage space, too. When it comes to photography department, this flagship smartphone is expected to boast a 16-MP back shooter and an 8-MP selfie camera.

What's more, a 3300-mAh battery, a Type USB-C port is also being considered to be included in the upcoming OnePlus 3 features. It will also possibly run on the latest mobile Operating System Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Since OnePlus does not have a pattern of release schedule to follow, the release date of the upcoming OnePlus 3 makes it a bit complicated to guess. On the other hand, one report suggests that this new flagship smartphone may not be seen until the latter half of 2016.
