iKON to release 1st full-length album as special Christmas gift to fans; B.I causes delay?

Monster rookie South Korean boy group iKON will release their first full album on December 24th. The album will be a meaningful Christmas present for their fans as it will be released on Christmas Eve.

The YG Entertainment's next generation boy group was originally set to release a full track album in November 2nd, but delayed the release to December 14th due to overseas promotions and activities.

However, it was recently announced that the release has been pushed to December 24 due to another title track composed by group leader B.I that is to be added on the full album. The group also had to shoot for the music video for the new title track, thus further causing the delay.

YG Entertainment proudly mentioned that the new title track written by B.I was so good that they had to include it in the album even to the expense of delaying the release so that expectations are running high.

iKON was formed by YG Entertainment, the home of global artists such as BIGBANG, 2NE1, and PSY through two survival competitions namely, "WIN: WHO IS NEXT" and "MIX & MATCH". Initially, the team lost against their fellow label mates WINNER, the victorious team on "WIN".

They were given a chance to debut but were faced with a greater challenge as three new members were added to the original six-member team. However, only seven members made it as an official iKON member at the end of "MIX & MATCH".

As a result of harsh survival shows, the members have acquired valuable experiences and have greatly honed their skills. Even after they were officially formed and named iKON, they have been practicing hard for almost two years in preparation for their official debut. iKON aims to be "a group worthy of reaching out globally".

iKON debuted last September with their single "My Type" which took the charts by storm, placing number one on various digital charts. Afterwards, the group released "Rhythm TA" in October and "Apology" in November, an unusual debut project for a rookie. The release of their full album on December 24 will mark the successful end of their grand debut project.

Having released 12 self-written tracks, their hard work paid off with their songs topping various charts and gaining them trophies on national music shows. iKON has also swept all Male Rookie Awards on the end-of-the-year music award shows such as Melon Music Award 2015 and Mnet Asian Music Award 2015.

Meanwhile, iKON is currently promoting in Japan and China with at least 10,000 fans involved on a fanmeet. Rappers B.I & Bobby will also appear on SBS game show "Running Man" that will air this coming December 20th.
