It has been confirmed by publisher Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment that the upcoming downloadable content for "Batman: Arkham Knight" will arrive on December 22. Moreover, rumors suggest that a multiplayer "Batman" might be in the works based on a job posting on development company Rocksteady Studios' website.
As noted by Gearnuke, the upcoming DLC for "Batman: Arkham Knight" will be the biggest DLC released by the developers for the game. For one, the content update will come with a new storyline dubbed as "Season of Infamy: Most Wanted Expansion."
This will feature four brand new missions centering on some of the most iconic villains from the "Batman" universe. In these missions, titled "Beneath the Surface," "In From the Cold," "Wonderland" and "Shadow War," gamers will go head-to-head against the villains Killer Croc, Mister Freeze, Mad Hatter and Ra's al Ghul.
Aside from these new missions, gamers can also expect to receive the fifth Crime Fighter Challenge Pack, the original version of the Arkham Batmobile, six new TBC AR Challenges and a "Batman" skin from the 2008 film, "The Dark Knight," by Christopher Nolan. As noted by the developers, the upcoming DLC will arrive next week for the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
In addition, Rocksteady Studios is also planning on releasing a new patch which will improve the game's rain effects. This will be available for the PC edition of the game later this month while console gamers can expect to see it in January next year.
The "Batman: Arkham" Asylum officially began in 2009 with the release of "Batman: Arkham Knight." As for the future of the series, a recent job listing on Rocksteady Studio's website hinted that a new "Batman" game with a multiplayer mode could arrive in the future.
As posted on the site, the job openings are for lead and senior network programmers who have experience working on multiplayer games. Of course, this could simply mean that Rocksteady Studios' future project will be a multiplayer game.
However, Gamespot speculated that the successful applicants for these positions could be assigned to work on a new multiplayer "Batman" game, especially since Warner Bros. had already said that the world of "Batman: Arkham" series can be easily expanded.
