There are two new special event courses available in Super Mario Maker for players with unlockable costumes, completely for free for all players. Fans of the Monster Hunter series can now avail of a special event dungeon to unlock a Felyne costume, while those who like cars might get a kick out of the Mercedes-Benz course that lets you drive around an unlockable "driver Mario" costume based on the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The Ma Rio Hills event course was announced on December 15, 2015, and completing it will unlock the Felyne costume, a cute little cat-creature known to the Monster hunter fans as indispensable assistants during their forays in dragon hunting. The Ma Rio Hills feature enlarged enemies that may remind Monster Hunter fans of the overgrown fauna they hunt down during the game, puzzles that require you to destroy multiple blocks, and a short underwater segment. The description of the event tells you simply that as a "Felyne warrior", all you need to do is to reach the end of the stage while dodging and beating "gigantic" monsters roaming Ma Rio Hill.
And earlier this month, on December 9, Mercedes-Benz released their own event course, the Mercedes-Benz Jump'n'Drive, with a special costume that lets Mario drive around inside a GLA, and the course itself is a mountain-themed track with an advancing wall that forces you to keep moving forward, perhaps to emulate the driving experience, and contains a hidden garage and a club area players can find during their "drive". This course was reportedly made by Super Mario Maker fans in the company, and were inspired by the appearance of the GLA in Mario Kart 8.
Super Mario Maker is available to play for the Wii U for $59.99. Earlier unlockable costumes, according to Nintendo Everything, include Totem Link, which is three tiny Links from Tri-Force Heroes on top of each other, former comedian Shinya Arino, and Frog Mario.
