‘Star Wars Battlefront’ news: EA launches Double Score Weekend to boost gamers’ points and credits

By

Game publisher Electronic Arts is hosting a special Double Score Weekend event for players of "Star Wars Battlefront" to celebrate the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film. According to the company, the event will give gamers the opportunity to boost their score points and earn more credits.

Over at the Star Wars Battlefront website, EA announced that the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Double Score Weekend will be held from December 18 to 21. During these days, all the points and credits that gamers will earn will be doubled. This means they'll have a greater chance of ranking up their characters and unlocking special items.

The special event is the latest offering from EA for the supporters of "Star Wars Battlefront." Earlier this week, a patch was launched by the company for the console versions of the game. Similar to the one released for the PC edition of the game, the latest patch came with a few bug fixes and tweaks, Gamezone reported.

One of these is the removal of the auto-lock system when firing Boba Fett's missile. The patch also improved the health of the AT-AT walker on the Endor map. In addition, the content update also reduced the damage caused by grenades from 100 to 90 points.

"Star Wars Battlefront" was officially released in the US market on Nov. 17 and is currently available for Microsoft Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Its first DLC, titled "Battle of Jakku" was released on December 8 but those who pre-ordered the game were able to access it as early as December 1.

Tech Radar reported that the narrative of "The Battle of Jakku" takes place a year after the events of 1983's "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" and about 29 years before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The featured planet in the DLC, Jakku, served as the stage for one of the final major battles between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
