SM Entertainment is expected to turn 2016 into a solo fever by its vocalists each releasing their own mini albums. The year of the monkey already seems greener for a number of debut albums and comebacks are anticipated to come out from the agency's vocal powerhouses!
The first in line is the comeback of the queen of OSTs and ballad songs Girls' Generation leader and main vocalist Kim Taeyeon. After taking almost all types of music charts by storm on her debut mini album "I" featuring rapper Verbal Jint, fans are already feeling blessed that 2016 is going to open with Taeyeon's soothing peaceful voice.
SM Entertainment is definitely setting up contrasts as Tiffany Hwang which is just the exact opposite of the meek Taeyeon will be following the leader with her debut album. Tiffany must be the most excited person for her solo debut as she already shared a part of her song "Bittersweet and Crazy" to the fans during her birthday celebration this year. No title has been announced for the album yet but whatever it is, the fans know that it is going to be something pink.
After he debuted with a heart-wrenching ballad "At Gwanghwamun" in November of last year which resided on the domestic digital charts for a long time and coming back to break even more hearts with "A Million Pieces" this October, the prince of ballads Super Junior Kyuhyun is back on the list to creep on the hearts of his fans once again.
Even though Super Junior members are at the age of military enlistment, Ryeowook hopes to show himself as a solo singer on stage before he enlists in the army next year. "My album should be coming out soon, too," he tells in an interview with PlayDB.
His bandmate Yesung was supposed to release his debut album this year after he finished his duty enlistment but has been postponed to 2016. These Super Junior members are surely going to rain ELFs with their powerful yet calming voice through their solo albums.
SHINee's main vocalist Kim Jonghyun doesn't seem to want to rest as he just released his two self-written EPs this year, "Base" and "Story Op.1," along with a truckload of singles he wrote for his radio listeners in Blue Night and his collaborations with other artists. He and his group mate Taemin are both going to release solos.
Taemin debuted with "Danger" and attempted to prove to the public that he indeed grew up to be real man, although it looks like it is going to take him a lot more solo albums before his seniors stop treating him like their baby.
While these two members are busy preparing for their comebacks, fans cannot help but wonder where is their leader Onew and why isn't he releasing his debut. There was an article circulating a few months back that suggested the singer is going to go solo this 2016.
However, he was not in the list of artists revealed to be taking solo publicized a few days ago. With his unique voice that coats like the first taste of Nutella, Onew is easily one of the K-Pop vocalists that deserve a solo the most.
After F(x) rapper Amber decided to "Shake that Brass" this year featuring Taeyeon, her mini album "Beautiful," which she proudly defended as "the sexiest" among all comebacks, is going to get a follow-up. Amber is a blessing for K-Pop fans as she reunited many artists from different agencies in one music video for her title track.
The last entry in the current list is F(x)'s main vocalist Luna. The singer has a sweet voice and if the producer gets her the right song, Luna definitely will make the fans beg for a fast return.
The current list of solo albums to be released from SM Entertainment are not necessarily in chronological order and has no fixed dates yet although fans are hoping more singers like SHINee Onew and EXO Kyungsoo are going to be added in the bunch to complete the vocal set.
