Paid search is now taking over businesses all over the world, according to a recent study conducted by Econsultancy and Netbooster. The report stated that almost a quarter of the average business' entire fund for marketing is spent on paid search.
According to the United Kingdom Search Engine Marketing Benchmark Report 2013, paid search accounted for 24% of respondents' marketing budgets. SEO (search engine optimization) accounted for 18%, while social media and display both rated at 11%.
Paid search, or pay per click, is an advertising model in new media used to direct online traffic towards company websites. Companies pay internet publishers, more commonly known as webmasters, for every redirected potential customer.
The respondents also said that budget for social media and search engine optimization will be increased in the future.
Advertising through social media went rampant during in the past few years. Marketing through Facebook proved to be an easy way to access millions of potential customers directly. Facebook offers pages and advertising spaces for companies - new avenues that are continually being explored by businesses in the virtual space.
