Neuberger Berman Group LLC, an employee-controlled private equity firm, announced the launch of the Neuberger Berman Greater China Equity Fund. The Neuberger Berman Greater China Equity Fund is a mutual fund for U.S. investors who have investments in equity securities of issuers in the Greater China Region. The region includes China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The fund is led by portfolio managers who has extensive experience in the region. One of the managers will be Frank Yao who functions as Neuberger Berman's vice-chairman for the Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Yao said that the Greater China region is a massive but inefficient market with engaging investment possibilities for U.S. investors. The fund's team is targeting vast themes where it considers domestic demand will grow together with future economic growth. It will consider investments in consumption-driven markets, which include agriculture, food and beverage, health care, entertainment, autos, retail and infrastructure, among others.
"We believe valuations for domestic and overseas-listed Chinese equities are at their lowest point in recent years, at roughly half their historical averages, and we think this is a great time for U.S. investors with a longer-term outlook to consider investing in the Greater China region," Yao explained.
