Besides providing impressive user experience, Apple has been gradually penetrating the infosec industry, by giving its everyday users advanced security options. Its new OS X brings new security features that would ensure its users' privacy.

Out of all the advanced security features that Apple will roll out in 2016, Tech Crunch enumerated the top 16. These new advances include features such as the System Integrity Protection, the Gatekeeper, Mobile Device Manager, and many more.

First is the System Integrity Protection, which is a security feature in the OS X El Capitan that restricts changeable things on a Mac. Another is the FileVault, which is a full disk encryption that can also add extra protection on removable media. The Mobile Device Management, a software that lets organizations remotely manage the Max and other iOS devices, is another security advancement to look forward to in 2016.

The Gatekeeper can restrict apps that are not from or signed by the App Store. There have been issues surrounding this feature about its weaknesses. However, according to Argyll Free Press, those flaws prompted Apple to create advances for it in 2016.

Application Sandboxing allows users to define the specific features that the app can access, like memory, network resources, parts, and files. The Address Space Layout Randomization makes it harder for attackers to determine the vulnerabilities in users' devices. Remote lock and remote wipe is a type of recovery partition in each Mac. The anti-virus for Apple is XProtect. Antiphishing protects the Safari browser.

Meanwhile, the Mac App Store lets people know if they are buying authentic apps. CIO reported that the iOS App Store made a lot of money in the Christmas season. It earned more than $1.1 billion.

The last six most notable Apple security advancements this 2016 are the iCloud Keychain, Activation Lock, Application Firewall, Time Machine, Legacy technologies, and the Privacy-first mindset.
