On Tuesday, Tom Joyner offered full scholarship for college to Trayvon Martin's friend Rachel Jeantel. Jeantel was talking on the phone with Martin the night he was shot. Jeantel's testimony during the George Zimmerman trial moved Joyner to help.
"Rachel, here's my offer to you. If you want to graduate from high school and go to an HBCU, even if it's not in Florida but especially Florida ... If you want to do that, I want to help you do that," Joyner stated during his radio show on Tuesday. He referred to the historically black colleges and universities. "I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT, and I will give you a full-ride scholarship to any HBCU you'd like."
Tom Joyner was the radio host of the show entitled Tom Joyner Morning Show. As of March 2012, his net worth was estimated to be around US$40 million. His fortune came from being a radio host of the show in America and for performing in two movies. Joyner also founded REACH Media Inc., Tom Joyner Foundation and BlackAmericaWeb.com.
