Google has posted sales revenue of $31 billion and earned $22 billion in profit there from since its release of Android Operating System. The Android mobile operating system has begun with the release of Android Alpha in November 2007. The first commercial version, Android 1.0, has been released in September 2008.
Oracle attorney Annette Hurst has represented the earning scenario of Google from Oracle's patent product. Such a huge amount of money has been brought by Google mainly from the Google ads shown on Android phones and from Play Store's revenue. Oracle is accusing Google in a copyright lawsuit of using its Java software without paying for it to develop Android, reports Reuters.
The five year old lawsuit has revamped in the San Francisco District Judge, William Alsup's court. Earlier Google's effort in the US Supreme Court, to derail the case, has gone in vain. Oracle's current demurrage claim may exceed $1 billion since it has expanded its claims to cover newer Android versions, according to a report published in Bloomberg.
However, the mountain viewer, Google has been treating mobile platform's earnings as top secret info. So Google has requested the Federal Judge to seal the transcript from that part of the hearing. Google has claimed that Annette Hurst has got the information from internal, confidential documents marked as 'Attorney's Eyes Only' and will never be released to public. Disclosure of these documents may draw significant negative effect to Google's business, the appellant has argued in its written statement addressed to the court, reports Engadget. Oracle attorney intends to use financial information from Google to sketch its profit earning scenario using its Java script operating system. The search engine provider has remained in a rush to use the software to develop Android. Analyzing and co-relating the event, the database maker's attorney, claims a margin in Google's earnings from Android segment. Greater revenue figures enable Oracle to claim more for its copyright infringement accusations against Google. Google's efforts in the US Supreme Court have failed to derail the lawsuit filed by Oracle for copyright infringement. The case has been resumed after five years in a North Carolina District Court. In hearing chapter, Oracle attorney has placed the financials before the Judge while placing arguments. Google representative has requested to keep those info secret citing sensitivity as the reason. However, the documents have been removed from the public portion of the court's database.
