Newport Beach based iconic sports agent Leigh Steinberg has announced launching a venture capital company on Wednesday. The newly launched company aims to invest in emerging companies and startups in sports and entertainment arena.
The concept of Steinberg ventures has appeared with the striking of partnership between the sports agent and Jay Rogers. The former remains sports industry veteran for 40 years. However, the latter appears to be an investment professional with 20 years' experience in leading a firm, Alpha Strategies, as the founder President, according to a statement furnished in the Steinberg Ventures' website.
Steinberg has represented the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft for eight times. Steve Young, Troy Aikman and Warren Moon, all have included their names as his clients. He has been considered as the basis for Tom Cruise's character in 1996's "Jerry Maguire" while serving the firm as a technical consultant, reports Variety.
Alpha Strategies enjoys specialty in working with high net worth individuals, family offices and institutional investors. It has reportedly syndicated over $1.5 billion in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds and real estate. The duo has decided to synergistically blend their experience and expertise to create an investment vehicle. The investment platform allows qualified investors to provide financial capital to business startups. Wynne is a former William Morris Agency executive and a senior consultant specializing in the media, technology and sports industries. He is also experienced in advising Disney, Fox, NBC Universal, General Motors and the NFL. The expertise of Jay and his team will enable Steinberg ventures to analyze and evaluate the investment potential for all the exciting encountered deals.
