Line Corporation has announced on Tuesday shuttering its MixRadio music streaming service in the coming weeks. The mobile apps developer has also announced for launching a new app for Android and iOS dubbed as Foodie - Food Photography. Line Corporation is better known for its Japanese messaging app Line.
MixRadio, the free streaming service has started rolling since Nokia's introduction of Music in 2007. Line has decided the closure just fourteen months after it acquired the business from Microsoft in December 2014. Microsoft has inherited MixRadio while acquiring Nokia and finally the software giant disposed off the service, reports The Verge.
A lack of revenue is believed to act behind MixRadio's closure. Line has carefully assessed its subsidiary's overall performance and the financial challenges posed by the music streaming market. Considering own priorities, Line has finally decided to discontinue the MixRadio streaming service, reports Engadget citing a Line statement posted in its blog as the source.
Line will keep its Music service alive but restricts for Japan and Thailand for a time being. The app developer has launched Line Mussic Service for Android and iOS in May last year, just prior to the release of Apple Music in June, reports Gadget 360⁰. Line Music app has some 215 million monthly users, 65% of whom are from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia. Studying the basic fact, Line Corporation has opted for offering localized services. The internet service provider is focusing on territorial services to such extent that it has partnered with Indonesian motorbike taxi app 'Go-Jek'. Line introduced Foodie- Food Photography app has been developed for Android and iOS. The new imaging app offers users to snap better shots of the food. The app fires-up the camera straight away and offers options to switch the handset flash on/off. It allows choosing the image aspect ratio between 1:1 and 3:4 and to switch on/off the blur effect. Foodie app also features 24 image filters which may be applied both before and after taking the snap. Images snapped using the app leaves a small app icon watermark. However, the watermark may be removed switching the feature off from the app setting. The function remains switched on by default. The food imaging app is 8.9 MB in size and requires OS version 4.0.3 or later to run on. The app occupies space of 10.5 MB while running on OS version 8.0 and later for iOS. The app may be downloaded from Google Play and App Store.
