Baltimore private equity firm Ecosystem Investment Partners (EIP) announced on Tuesday the final closing of its third fund at an amount that surpassed its target of $200 million to $103 million more. With such amount of equity capital commitments, Monument Group Inc. is to serve again as an exclusive placement agent.
Ecosystem Investment Partners III LP (EIP III) will follow its predecessors on their investment in Land-Based Environmental Offset (LEO) markets. Ecosystem has raised $180.7 million for its second fund in 2012. This focus is to offset any unavoidable, permitted impacts to wetlands, streams, and other important natural resources throughout the US.
Meanwhile, according to The Pe Hub network ,EIP closed its third fund at $303 million, surpassing its $200 million target. EIP III expects to make approximately 10 to 15 investments across the US in markets with the largest and most active need for land-based environmental offsets. The firm targets investments between USD10 and USD40 million, based on properties between 1,000 to 30,000 acres in size and deemed conservation priorities by major conservation organizations or state/federal natural resource agencies.
According to Ecosystem Partners, the company, Ecosystem Investment Partners, intends to profit from its good works by selling environmental restoration credits to private developers and government agencies which need them to offset environmental damage done by their projects.
In the environmental segment, EIP also has a rather significant relationship with key government natural resource agencies and some major conservation Non-Governmental Organizations. This provides deep knowledge for the Land-Based Environmental Offset markets and gives acess to the preferred and ecological US properties.
Ecosystem Investment Partners is a private equity firm established in 2006 to make investments that capitalize on the Land-Based Environmental Offset ("LEO") markets. Its primary investment focus is on large-scale mitigation banking opportunities enabled by the federal Clean Water Act of 1972 and Endangered Species Act of 1973. In order to capitalize on the LEO markets, EIP acquires, entitles, restores, sustainably manages and ultimately divests large rural properties that generate revenues through the sale of wetland, stream, endangered species and other environmental credits to entities seeking compliance under these and other environmental regulations that require offsets to unavoidable impacts.
