A partnership by the technology industry's two titans might solve one of the internet's most tackled problems - child pornography. The two companies, Google and Microsoft, promised to support the British government's battle against this cyber crime.
Prime Minster David Cameron earlier announced his plan to declare a new law, basically leaving the tech companies no choice but to cooperate before the autumn. He said that technology companies have a responsibility and "moral duty" to fight this pressing issue. Bing and Yahoo have not made any statement regarding the prime minister's threat.
Google said that they have "zero tolerance" against child pornography, while Microsoft said that all illegal content are against the company's policies.
"There are some searches which are so abhorrent and where there can be no doubt whatsoever about the sick and malevolent intent of the searcher that there should be no search results returned at all," the prime minister plans to state.
He said that after searching for child abuse sites, warning pages must be shown stating the consequences of accessing such sites.
The search engine industry have been growing in the past few years as the top market for advertising and new media advertising.
