The royal baby fever hit everyone it seemed. Even British royalty were joining in the royal baby rush. Union Jack booties, "Born to Rule" sleepwear and other baby products were being offered to mark the royal heir's entry into the world.
Prince Charles, the newborn's grandfather, reportedly sold handmade baby shoes. He sold these handmade items at a shop in Highgrove, his country estate. In addition, on sale at the palace shops was a baby sleepsuit that based on a guardman's outfit.
Meanwhile, the baby's grandparents on his mother's side were also trying to give their party goods business a boost. Joining in the rush created by their grandson, Carol and Michael Middleton added baby goods alongside their existing products.
"This is a good news story and there really is no downside. With the birth coming in July (summer in Britain), people will have time to get involved, and that means additional spending," Joshua Bamfield told Reuters Monday. Bamfield was the director at the Centre for Retail Research (CRR).
"There has been a lot of interest across the Atlantic as well, as the younger royals are very well thought of in the United States, so we are expecting good sales of souvenirs."
