Ohio State University indefinitely suspended Carlos Hyde after an assault case. Hyde's suspected run in with the law this weekend involved a woman in the town center of Columbus, Ohio.
Hyde was the Buckeyes' senior starting running back. Ohio State publicized that it would suspend Hyde until the results of the investigation came out.
"I have a clear set of core values in place that members of this football team are constantly reminded of and are expected to honor," coach Urban Meyer stated through a report made by USA Today. "I expect our players to conduct themselves responsibly and appropriately and they will be held accountable for their actions."
Last year, Ohio State's football team reported a revenue total of US$48.76 million. Its public ticket sales were around US$25.6 million while its profits from the television was roughly US$11.4 million. A game where Ohio State fails to win would cost it approximately US$3 million. With the latest suspensions of Carlos Hyde, cornerback Bradley Roby and two other players, the Buckeyes was expected to suffer a lot this season.
