Shyp the on-demand shipping company startup has been selected as eBay partner. EBay sellers will have the option to send goods via its on-demand packing and mailing service offered by Shyp.
Founded in 2013, Shyp provides integrated logistics and shipping service. The San Fransisco-based company offer end-to-end service from picking up packages, packaging and delivering them to destination. Starting last December, Shyp has started the pilot program with eBay to deliver product in San Francisco, New York and Chicago as a follow up of eBay Valet program.
On Tuesday, eBay announced to extend partnership with Shyp to help its sellers delivering their products. Packaging and shipping the products are the main complexities for online shop business, and this partnership will ease the complexities. Shyp will handle the packaging and shipping of products for eBay sellers.
The partnership will connect Shyp and EBay accounts for each users. When users open their Shyp app they will see an itemized list of recently sold items in their eBay store. Users can select the items they would like to ship, and within 20 minutes the Shyp courier will arrive at their location to pickup the items, package and deliver them.
Generally Shyp charges $5 for pickup and packaging fees beside the delivery service. Up to June 30, Shyp will waive pickup and packaging fees for eBay sellers. This enable sellers to enjoy pickup and packaging service free of charge.
Head of Consumer Selling for eBay North America Vincent Payen told Business Wire, "We're excited to expand our partnership with Shyp to make selling on eBay even easier." Partnership between eBay and Shyp will provide sellers in eBay a much easier way to increase the sales.
"Coupled with the eBay Valet mail-in and drop-off programs, we're continuing to provide our sellers with tailored experiences that make the selling and shipping process on eBay seamless. With access to eBay's large online shopping audience, customers have the best chance to get top dollar for their items along with a simple way to both declutter their space and earn extra money this spring."
Shyp Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gibbon told Los Angeles Times regarding the partnership, "I think it's very important for us in the long term. With these sellers, the number of shipments they do is a lot more than a consumer who is gifting, so it helps us in our drive toward profitability."
CNET reported that sellers response with the partnership has been strong, thus shown in the sales increase. Nearly half of eBay sellers that use Shyp had never sold on eBay before, but CEO Gibbon did not mention specific number of users.
As Shyp has become eBay partner, sellers on eBay will be able to use its service to package and deliver their products. Shyp will also waive its pickup and packaging fees for eBay sellers until June 30.
