Amanda Bynes meets criteria of psychiatric hold

By

On Monday, California sheriff's deputies placed American actress Amanda Bynes on an involuntary psychiatric hold. According to reports, Bynes set a small fire in the driveway of a stranger.

Ventura County Sheriff's Department stated that the 27-year-old actress was "involved in a disturbance in a residential neighborhood last night in Thousand Oaks." After the investigation and a conversation with Bynes, they found out that she met 5150 psychiatric hold's criteria.

"The maximum is a 72 hour hold, but in most cases they don't need 72 hours," Mental Health Association of California's executive director, Rusty Selix, said. "For someone to be admitted, a judicial proceeding takes place and someone has to make a finding that the person is a danger to themself or others."

Bynes is an award-winning actress, and singer who recently created her own fashion line called Dear. Her net worth was US$4 million. In recent years, her profits declined due to a number of run-ins with the law that affected her popularity. In April 2012, she was arrested for driving under influence. After four months, she was arrested again for a hit and run case.
