Olivia Newton-John, 68, recently opened up about moving on from the tragedy and finding love with her 64-year-old husband John Easterling.
In 2005, Newton-John's boyfriend of nine years, Patrick McDermott, disappeared during a fishing trip. The actress called it a "traumatic experience," especially as rumors swirled that McDermott may have faked his death. She said the she struggles to make sense of what happened and has worked hard to move on.
Two months after Patrick vanished, investigators claimed he had been found alive and well in rural Mexico, where he was living with his new girlfriend.
A report had been done and said that earlier this year that fresh evidence confimed previous claims that he had settled down with a European woman.
Investigator John Nazarian said that "Its rumored that he was with a German national". He also addedthat coming up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat and allegedly no one saw him fall off the boat is the most preposterous thing that he had ever heard in his entire life.
But in 2008, just three years after the disappearance, Newton-John tied the knot with her now-husband, John Easterling. She said "I wasn't expecting to fall in-love with him."
The couple had been married for eight years now and Newton-John calls herself "lucky" to have found Easterling. Olivia also said that she had found the love of her life at 59 years old going 60 and that no one is too old for love.
When it comes to her own healing, Newton-John's in good hands. "His passion is botanicals and healing people with nature," she says of her husband, whose nickname is 'Amazon John.' The star adds with a smile, "He's just really great."
Truly love can hit you anytime. No matter what you've gone through, once you found true love, you can never deny it and you will felt like you were the happiest person alive.
