The M&M's brand has released a plethora of new limited-edition and mainstay flavors over the years. From strawberry shortcake and birthday cake, to coffee nut and pumpkin spice latte, M&M's really knows how to target those seasonal flavors and keep us wanting their specialty flavored, and not to mention delicious, chocolate treats. Today, M&M's released the name of their latest flavor: caramel.
On Tuesday, the candy company revealed that people will soon be able to buy Caramel-flavored M&M's (cue the clapping and doves flying). The new flavor, which will be have a permanent residence on candy shelves, is expected to be the biggest product launch in the brand's history.
They are described as featuring "a creamy caramel center covered in delicious milk chocolate, enclosed in a colorful candy shell." Although they won't be hitting shelves until May 2017, PEOPLE writers and editors had a chance to be one of the first to try it out.
Given it was a deadline day at the magazine, staffers were shoving any food they could find in their mouths, but the general consensus was that this candy is legitimately a pure delight.
One editor described them as being like "Rolos with a crispy shell."
The M&M'S are certainly more chewy than any of their other flavors, which made one writer have flashbacks of getting Milk Duds stuck in her teeth.
Today, M&M's released the name of their latest flavor: caramel. Yes, the flavor all been waiting for is finally almost here-the candy goes on sale in May of next year-as the M&M's behind-the-scenes crew realized that chocolate and caramel is a pretty classic flavor pairing and is bound to fly off the shelves as soon as it hits.
According to a statement, the caramel M&M's feature "a soft caramel center, providing a perfect smooth texture in every piece."
