The blockbuster movie Boo! has garnered about $56.4M domestically after only two weeks in release. In late October, the movie surprisingly won the weekend box-office race from 2,260 North American theaters.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer on Thursday told analysts from Wall Street that the creative writer, director, producer and actor will continue in the industry with the studio and that one of the intended films will extend the Madea franchise.
Perry has been a principal contributor of Lionsgate's censures, with the studio releasing the likes of "Madea's Witness Protection," "Madea Goes to Jail," and "Alex Cross," all of which highlighted the actor. They have completed nearly 20 motion picture together. Madea is the truth-telling grannie personality that Perry formed and essays on screen. Critics have a habit of hating the films, but they have a faithful and zealous supporters.
"While the quarter included two films that we hoped would do better, we were very pleased with Madea's Halloween," said Feltheimer to the analysts after releasing their incomes, saying that they have faith in the Perry brand.
Since The Hunger Games series of films came to an end, Lionsgate has been on the search for new franchises. Although the last Madea movie is nothing on the scale compared of the Hunger Games series, they see Madeafilms to be a profitable film for them. They also have found box office Now You See Me franchise is a huge success to the viewers.
"The bigger movies potentially have more potential, but you never know where your next movie is going to come from. Lionsgate is looking forward to Power Rangers. A franchise doesn't have to be a huge Marvel property. It doesn't need to be for us a Hunger Games or a Marvel property to become a franchise," said a Lionsgate executive.
