McGregor is the current reigning UFC featherweight champion the one who dares Eddie Alvarez for lightweight title at UFC 205 later this month. McGregor has already predicted the results, claiming that he will become the first ever simultaneous two-division titleholder in UFC history. He is also expecting a first-round stunner saying that the event will set a pay-per-view top for MMA.
On today's UFC 205 media conference call, he raised the stakes again, stating that he's going to do a devastating performance that Alvarez is going to tender an exit to the sport of MMA after an approximately thirteen spectacular years in his career.
"I'm going to retire him on this night. He has been through a hell of a lot of wars," McGregor said. He has been dropped continuously. I can see it in him. You can see the effects of war on his face. Respect to him, he's a fighter, nothing but respect. But this will be it for you. You're going to be badly, badly hurt Eddie, and I mean that. It's over for you. You will not fight again after this. You will not look the same, you will not think the same, and that's it," said McGregor.
Madison Square Garden in New York City will be the stage for UFC 205 that will be held at November 12.
When McGregor announced his bold prediction, Alvarez was on the phone. When he came back, he simply laughed off McGregor's evaluation of the situation and declaring that he's going to make McGregor eat his words come fight night.
"The guys he's picked to fight, these are sub-par guys. Everybody in the lightweight division has beat Nate Diaz, and he had trouble doing that," Alvarez said. The guys he's faced are nothing of the caliber I am. He will see the night of the fight, I've been going up against opponents that were good style matchups, and this one is not."
Whether it's all empty threats or not, all signs goes to one direction. It is going to be a knockout fight where both McGregor and Alvarez believed that they can prevail the fight dominantly and without breaking a sweat.
