Zilingo, an online retailer, has created a partnership with more than 2,000 small enterprises from Bangkok and Singapore. Said retailers offer a wide variety of apparels, accessories, bags, shoes, and other lifestyle products to over half a million active consumers.
Launched just January of this year, Zilingo is a Bangkok-based site. It is a product of the company's Chief Executive Officer Ankiti Bose and Dhruv Kapoor, the site's Chief Technical Officer who are both Indian expats who are now living in Bangkok.
"We saw an opportunity to bring real value to thousands of smaller sellers who don't have the resources to create an online presence for themselves. People love to shop in Bangkok, yet these sellers are completely offline at the moment," CEO Bose told The New Paper.
Through the online retailer app, sellers who are living in either Singapore or Thailand could sign up, have their accounts verified, and directly post and sell their products. However, only the buyers and sellers from the two countries can have access to the site.
After a successful negotiation, the products sold will go directly from the seller to the buyer.
Bose said, "Anyone can register and sell on Zilingo, we don't discriminate across looks or price points. We don't, however, allow counterfeit products and have very strict policies against them."
The inspiration of the said online retailer app was Bose's very first Bangkok shopping experience way back 2014. As she wanted to visit Bangkok small independent sellers, her idea of creating Zilingo has opened up.
All of the Thai products posted on Zilingo are not found in the virtual stores in Singapore.
"We think the e-commerce market potential is quite large, both on the seller and buyer side. We know so many people who just come down to Bangkok to shop, and now they can do that (with this) app," Bose furthered.
Aside from the products from Bangkok, Zilingo also carries several Singaporean brands including Lead Design and Haji Lane.
Seller Chanel Wong of online beauty brand Mybeautystory said: "(Zilingo's) seller interface is very user-friendly and always improving... In addition, the courier service is efficient, friendly and accommodating," shared Chanel Wong, seller of the online beauty brand Mybeautystory.
