"We're not selling as many Windows devices as we want to," admitted Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer in a statement to The Verge. He confirmed the dismal sales of the company's array of tech devices such as Windows hardware, personal computers, phones and tablets.
According to numbers provided by analysts, Microsoft's Windows tablets have not been selling at all. The company's phones managed to rank third behind Samsung and Apple, but the leading companies in the smartphone race still account for almost 92% of all the sales in the sector.
Ultimately, according to the IDC Research group, any gadget with the Windows RT brand failed in epic proportions.
"One of the challenges [for Windows 8] is how to drive the prices down," commented Jonney Shih, chairman of tech company Asus. He also noted that the company needs more Windows 8 apps. The Android operating system has over 700,000 apps available, and Windows struggles to increase the number of apps being developed.
