Following the news that auto giants Daimler AG and the BMW Group have signed a deal to develop next-generation automated driving technology together, the Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG have announced that they are partnering on autonomous vehicle technology too.
Volkswagen AG is joining Ford in investing more than $7 billion (£5.57 billion) in the autonomous vehicle technology platform Argo AI.
The plan is to introduce this tech in the U.S. and Europe by independently integrating Argo AI's self-driving system into both Ford and Volkswagen vehicles, exploiting the global reach of both brands.
