Investment duo buys India's Portea Medical

K Ganesh and MeenaGanesh, both Serial tech entrepreneurs, announced that they have acquired Portea Medical, a New Delhi-based healthcare firm. The deal saw the pair of venture capitalists entering into India's home healthcare sector worth roughly around US$2 billion.

Portea Medical is the pair's fifth venture after four investments in other start-ups. "Portea is focused on building the domestic home healthcare market supported by advanced diagnostic and remote monitoring technology. This is a 100% acquisition through a combination of cash and equity . The founders will remain part of the senior management , spearheaded by Meena as CEO," K Ganesh said in an interview with media.

Co-founded by Karan Aneja and Zachary Jones, Portea Medical was established to lead the introduction of the US home healthcare model in India. Portea Medical works with individuals as much as with hospitals by providing services such as home visits from physicians to boost health outcomes of their patients. The New Delhi-based healthcare firm currently operates along with at least five Tier-I corporate hospitals. The company is said to have an extensive network of over 200 physicians in Bangalore and Delhi.
