McDonald's has rolled out the upgraded version of its famous burgers in all locations across the United States (US), aiming to enhance customers' overall eating experience through what it calls the "Best Burger" initiative.
According to CNBC, despite beating its rivals in recent quarters, the fast-food giant faces the challenge of growing traffic and maintaining sales amid a less favorable economic climate. Analysts anticipate a US same-store sales growth of 4.4% in the fourth quarter, a decline from the previous quarter's 8.1%.
McDonald's 'Best Burger'
The "Best Burger" initiative involves subtle changes in the cooking and assembly processes rather than altering the beef patty itself. The grills now give the patties more breathing room, with only six cooked at a time instead of eight for more flavor.
Onions are now added before cooking the patties to absorb the patty's juices, and the cooked patties are kept hotter, ensuring the overall burger remains warm upon reaching the customer. Other improvements include better-melted cheese, upgraded buns, and more special sauce for Big Macs.
Rolling Out Nationwide
McDonald's US Chief Restaurant Officer Mason Smoot emphasized the goal of maintaining the chain's familiar tastes while enhancing the quality and flavor of core burgers.
The launch of the better-tasting burgers started about a year ago but has now been rolled out nationwide after successful implementations in crucial international markets like Australia and Canada.
Analysts suggest that burger quality enhancements have contributed to McDonald's's success in these markets.
