Russia's President Vladimir Putin was full of praise for Elon Musk during his two-hour interview with Tucker Carlson aired on Thursday, calling the tech billionaire a "smart person."
Russia's President Vladimir Putin Says Elon Musk Is Unstoppable
According to GB News, Vladimir Putin said there was "no stopping" the tech billionaire because "he will do as he sees fit," following reports that Elon Musk's startup Neuralink had successfully carried out its first brain implant in a human patient.
Two weeks ago, Musk announced on X that Neuralink implanted a microchip into a human brain, and the patient was recovering well, with initial results showing a "promising neuron spike," which means the company is getting recordings from the patient's brain.
Neuralink aims to create a device that could be implanted in humans to monitor brain activity. Musk said this technology will allow "control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking."
"There are already reports Elon Musk already had a chip implanted in the human brain in the US," Putin said during the interview. Carlson then said: "What do you think of that?"
Putin replied: "I think there's no stopping Elon Musk. He will do as he sees fit. Nevertheless, you need to find some common ground with him. Search for ways to persuade him."
"He's a smart person. I truly believe he is. So you'll need to reach an agreement with him because this process [brain implant] needs to be formalized and subjected to certain rules," he added."

Russia's Vladimir Putin Issues Warning on Genetics Technology
Vladimir Putin's remarks regarding Elon Musk came after he warned that "mankind is currently facing many threats due to the genetic researchers."
According to Al Jazeera, Putin said: "It is now possible to create this superhuman. A specialized human being. A genetically engineered athlete, scientist, military man."
He then cited the reports that Musk has already had the chip implanted in the human brain. Putin has likened the progress of AI to the risk of nuclear weapons or the development of gunpowder.
According to Putin, it is impossible to stop this research in genetics or AI nowadays, just as it was impossible to prevent the use of gunpowder back in the day.
However, he noted that as soon as people realize that the threat comes from "the boundless and uncontrolled development" of AI, genetics, or any other field, the time will come "to negotiate" on an international agreement on how we will regulate these things.
Musk, who indicated that he was tuning in to catch the historic interview, has yet to respond after being mentioned by the Russian leader.
