Former United States President Donald Trump attended a shoe conference in Philadelphia a day after being hit with a $355 million verdict in a New York civil fraud lawsuit last Friday, Feb. 16. His appearance was to promote his line of shoes, which sell for little under $400.
Trump Shoes at Sneaker Con
According to the New York Times, the ex-president stood before a crowd at Sneaker Con on Saturday, February 17, waving a pair of golden Never Surrender High-Top sneakers as he addressed the audience. The shoes are the latest in a line of Trump-branded goods that also includes Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, and Trump Water.
This appearance comes hours before he is due to have a campaign event in Michigan. Reportedly, this is just the latest move by Trump to capitalize on his brand. Trump is now facing 91 felony charges across four criminal indictments and huge fines in civil court proceedings.
Within the last year alone, he has advertised trade cards with his picture and likeness, as well as his mug photo, parts of his clothing, and even firearms.
'Not Political'
The shoe's website, GetTrumpSneakers.com, states that Trump did not create, produce, distribute, or sell them. It also clarifies that the site is unrelated to any political campaign and is not political.
Nevertheless, Trump is expected to get a portion of the profits as a result of the license arrangement that allows the firm to use his name. The shoes have been marketed during the convention and online by Trump, his team, and surrogates.
The shoes, which are marketed on the website as being "Bold, gold and tough, just like President Trump," have a "T" logo representing Trump and an American flag around the collar. They are almost covered with gold, down to the shoelaces.
For less than $200, you can get two different models of red or white sneakers on the site, and for less than $100, you can have "Victory47" perfume and cologne.
