Airbnb Announces Worldwide Ban on the Use of Indoor Security Cameras
According to Yahoo Tech, Airbnb's new global ban on the use of indoor security cameras in listed properties is part of the company's effort to improve the privacy of the stayers.
"Airbnb is banning the use of indoor security cameras in listings globally as part of efforts to simplify our policy on security cameras and other devices and to continue to prioritize the privacy of our community," the company said in a press release.
In the past few years, Airbnb has allowed the use of indoor security cameras in common areas, like hallways and living rooms, and not in spaces such as bathrooms and sleeping areas.
However, they should be disclosed on the listing page before booking. The new updated policy now clearly states that cameras are not allowed inside listings, regardless of their location, purpose, or prior disclosure.

Airbnb clarified that the new rules still allow doorbell cameras and noise decibel monitors in common areas. However, these security gadgets must be disclosed on listing pages.
Outdoor security cameras will not be allowed to be pointed inside properties. Airbnb said it would provide enough time for hosts to comply with the new policies.
Airbnb hosts have until more than a month to comply since the worldwide ban on security cameras inside rentals will take effect on April 30. The company said violations of the new policy could result in listing or account removal.
