Home Depot unveiled on Thursday (Mar. 14) its plan to open four new distribution centers designed specifically for the needs of remodelers, contractors, and other home professionals.
Home Depot to Build 4 Distribution Centers
The new distribution centers, slated to commence operations in the first half of the year, will be located in Detroit, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Toronto.
With an average size of about 500,000 square feet each, these facilities are significantly larger than typical Home Depot stores, allowing them to accommodate a broader range of products.
The move is part of Home Depot's strategy to attract pros who handle more significant and extensive projects, like major renovations or kitchen remodeling.
By stocking large, bulky merchandise and offering job lot quantities, the company aims to streamline the procurement process for professionals, facilitating seamless project completion.
Home Depot Expands its Pro Offerings
"Pros need a partner with the right product, depth of product, fulfillment capabilities, sales support and management tools to help them get their jobs done," Chip Devine, senior vice president of outside sales for The Home Depot, said in a press release.
"Over the last several years, we have been investing to deliver a faster, more convenient, differentiated experience for our pros. Our distribution network is one piece of the comprehensive pro ecosystem we're building to better meet the needs of this important customer," he added.
Beyond expanding its supply chain infrastructure, Home Depot is enhancing its pro offerings through various initiatives, including localized product assortments, dedicated sales forces, digital tools for order management, and tiered pricing.
