Tech mogul Elon Musk has accused Google of meddling in elections to support Democratic candidates "a thousand of times," after allegations from a watchdog group were revealed.
Musk's comments come after The New York Post reported Monday findings from the Media Research Center (MRC), which claimed that Google has actively favored Democrats while censoring Republicans.
Musk Implies Google's Censorship Teams Lean Far Left
The MRC's analysis highlighted 41 instances of what it described as "election interference" by Google since 2008. A screenshot of an article from The New York Post was then shared on X, previously known as Twitter.
Musk, responding to these claims, quoted the post, stating, "This article understates the magnitude of the problem - Google interferes to help Democrats thousands of times every election season!"
He further criticized Google's internal processes, suggesting that their censorship teams possess left-leaning political views.
"This is to be expected when their censorship (aka "Trust & Safety") teams [have] far left political views," he continued.
Google, however, has not directly addressed Musk's remarks.
MRC Report Alleges Google Favors Democrats in Elections
In the MRC report, specific incidents were outlined to support the claims of election interference. These included actions allegedly taken by Google to support Democratic candidates such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton during their respective election campaigns.
Furthermore, the report cited data from Dr. Robert Epstein, who claimed that Google's search algorithm influenced millions of votes in favor of Democrats.
Google has disputed the MRC's findings, labeling them as baseless and inaccurate. Previously, the tech giant faced criticism over its AI chatbot Gemini, which generated historically inaccurate images and displayed political bias.
Despite these allegations, Google has maintained that its platforms are neutral and that it strives to provide unbiased search results.
"There is absolutely nothing new here - just a recycled list of baseless, inaccurate complaints that have been debunked by third parties and many that failed in the courts," a spokesperson for the company emphasized
The MRC stands by its report, urging further investigation into Google's practices. The group has called on Congress to address what it sees as a significant issue of election interference by tech companies.
"No organization has more control over information than Google, and they have repeatedly used that power to manipulate the public to vote for the most left-wing candidates in every major election since 2008," Media Research Center founder and president Brent Bozell said in an interview with Fox News Digital.
"It's un-American to attempt to manipulate elections this way. It's time Congress acts to shut down this massive election interference scheme,"
