The CIA has interfered with the federal investigation into President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, by blocking interviews with a significant witness, according to a whistleblower report received Thursday by House leaders.
The witness in question is Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer known as Hunter Biden's 'sugar brother,' who provided substantial financial support to the president's son, including loans totaling at least $5 million, purchases of artwork, and payments to Hunter's ex-wife and the mother of his illegitimate child.
Whistleblower Alleges CIA Interference in Hunter Biden Tax Probe
The whistleblower claims that CIA officials summoned Justice Department investigators to their headquarters in Langley, Virginia, and instructed them not to interview Morris, effectively halting their inquiry.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan have expressed concerns over this intervention, writing to CIA Director William Burns to demand clarification on the matter.
"Recently, the Committees received information from a whistleblower alleging that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) intervened in the investigation of Hunter Biden to prevent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigators from interviewing a witness," the republicans wrote. "We therefore write to request relevant material from the CIA."
Morris, during his deposition before House committees, explained his motivations behind assisting Hunter, citing a desire to support someone he saw as struggling and fearing a relapse into addiction, which could negatively impact Hunter's father, President Biden.
The revelation of CIA's alleged obstruction comes amidst a broader investigation into Hunter Biden's tax affairs, spanning five years and involving multiple agencies.
The investigation focuses on potential tax evasion related to payments Hunter received from foreign companies in Ukraine, Russia, and China.
IRS whistleblowers involved in the Hunter Biden investigation previously revealed how the Department of Justice intervened to shield the president's son by repeatedly delaying the progression of their probe, disclosing vital details about the case to Hunter Biden's legal representatives, and consistently refusing to authorize the filing of charges.
CIA Faces Congressional Deadline Amid Allegations
In response to the allegations, the CIA has refrained from commenting on specific investigations but asserted its commitment to cooperating with law enforcement and oversight committees.
Hunter Biden faces charges of tax fraud and filing false tax returns, accused of evading taxes totaling $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019.
The House leaders have given the CIA a deadline of April 4 to provide relevant documents related to the investigation, including those pertaining to Morris's involvement.
President Biden has repeatedly denied any involvement in his family's business affairs or wrongdoing related to his son's activities.
However, during closed-door testimony before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, Tony Bobulinski, claimed that he has evidence to show President Biden's participation in his family's business activities.
