North Bridge tops investments in Massachussets

According to a Boston Business Journal research, 10 Boston-area venture capital companies invested a total of US$385 million into Massachusetts-based firms last year. The investments were led by Waltham-based North Bridge Venture Partners.

North Bridge invested at combined US$72 million into companies across Massachusetts. North Bridge confirmed that the US$72 million was invested across 23 deals in Massachusetts and that the numbers represent 38% of the company's total amount invested for the year. The venture capitalist invested a grand total of US$191.4 million across 44 deals.

Transactions which North Bridge was involved in included the US$30 million investment for the growth round of Acquia, the US$20 million investment in Nasuni's Series C financing round, the US$12 million investment in Paydiant's Series B investment round, and the US$12.4 million investment in Apperian's Series B investment round.

The other venture capital firms that made the top 10 in terms of total amount invested were Spark Capital, Flybridge Capital Partners, Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Charles River Ventures, Polaris Partners, Highland Capital Partners, Atlas Venture, and Flagship Ventures.
