Actress Angie Harmon Says Instacart Driver Killed Their Family Dog
In an Instagram post, Angie Harmon told her 584,000 followers that their beloved dog, Oliver, was fatally shot by the Instacart driver delivering groceries at their home in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday shortly before noon.
"This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver. He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog," the actress wrote.
Harmon noted that the driver noticed their Ring camera was charging in the house and knew he was not being recorded. The actress said police investigated the incident but let the Instacart driver go after he claimed it was self-defense.
"The police let him go b/c he claimed 'self defense'. He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn. He was shopping under a woman's identity named Merle," Harmon noted.
"He shot our dog with my daughters & myself at home & just kept saying, 'yeah, I shot your dog. Yeah I did.' We are completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member," she added.
According to The Charlotte Observer, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed that no criminal charges were filed in the incident that happened near Lawyers Lane.
In a statement, the police said that the Instacart delivery driver told officers that the dog attacked him "while he was at the residence and that he defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog."
The police added that another dog was present but did not attack the driver.
