A House Republican has introduced Tuesday a bill aiming to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after former President Donald Trump.
The proposal, led by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.), seeks to rebrand the prominent airport as Donald J. Trump International Airport.

Reschenthaler, the House GOP's chief deputy whip, emphasized Trump's leadership qualities.
"In my lifetime, our nation has never been greater than under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump," Reschenthaler said.
He further highlighted the symbolic significance of the proposed renaming, asserting that it would embody "freedom, prosperity, and strength."
Joined by several Republican colleagues including Reps. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.), Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Troy Nehls (R-Texas), Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.), Barry Moore (R-Ala.), and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), Reschenthaler aims to honor Trump's achievements during his tenure as the 45th president of the United States.
Reschenthaler cited Trump's economic policies, energy initiatives, judicial appointments, and diplomatic strategies as grounds for bestowing this honor upon him.

Democrats Push Back Against Proposal to Rename Dulles Airport After Trump
The proposed renaming has faced swift opposition from Virginia Democrats. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) criticized the effort, pointing to the legal challenges Trump currently faces.
"Donald Trump is facing 91 felony charges," Connolly stated. "If Republicans want to name something after him, I'd suggest they find a federal prison."
Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) also voiced opposition, recalling Trump's controversial travel ban from five Muslim-majority countries that affected many travelers passing through Dulles Airport.
Beyer recounted his experience assisting individuals affected by the ban, highlighting the hardships faced by innocent travelers detained at the airport.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) also expressed her opposition through her X (formerly Twitter) account.
"This idea is ridiculous, but sadly real," she wrote. "Congress must act on pressing issues like reauthorizing the FAA and passing the national security supplemental. Yet this is what a Member of House Republican leadership focuses on - renaming Virginia's Dulles airport after Trump."
Washington Dulles International Airport, situated in Northern Virginia, stands as an international airport located about 26 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C.
Established in 1962, it bears the name of John Foster Dulles, a significant figure who served as the United States Secretary of State during the Cold War and briefly represented New York in the US Senate.
