In a daring Easter Sunday heist, FOX11 Los Angeles reported that thieves targeted a money storage facility in Los Angeles, making off with a staggering $30 million in cash-marking one of the city's largest burglaries to date.
The incident, suspected to occur at a GardaWorld facility in Sylmar, a suburban area within the San Fernando Valley, involved burglars gaining entry, possibly through the building's side or roof, and bypassing security measures to access the vault undetected. The sizable theft went unnoticed until Monday morning, when employees opened the vault, revealing no apparent signs of forced entry.
The Los Angeles Times noted that this cash burglary ranks among the city's largest, surpassing even armored car heists.
Now, the Los Angeles Police Department, in collaboration with the FBI, is actively investigating the incident, although further details remain scarce. This brazen theft echoes a similar high-profile crime nearly two years prior, where valuables worth up to $100 million were stolen from a Brink's big rig at a Southern California truck stop, with the culprits still at large.
Interestingly, this is not a lone case on an Easter Sunday as VCPost also earlier reported that some robberies happened during the day, this time, in New York.
