Singapore-based logistics company Ninja Van will now deliver refrigerated items like fresh fruits and sashimi (raw fish) in addition to the regular packages it handles. This announcement was made during a press conference held at Ninja Van's headquarters on Apr. 8, an important occasion as the company commemorates its 10th year in operation.
As for the prices, CEO and co-founder Lai Chang Wen reveals they can offer fresh sashimi delivery to consumers at rates similar to those found in online shopping platforms.
According to Straits Times, as part of its cold chain logistics initiative, Ninja Van will transport products from minus 25°C to 4°C using cooler boxes loaded into its vans and refrigeration trucks.
Leveraging the scale of its existing e-commerce logistics business, which handles close to 100,000 deliveries daily across Singapore, Ninja Van aims to provide cost-effective solutions for the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods. This shall include fresh produce and pharmaceuticals.
The cold chain logistics service has been initiated in Singapore and Malaysia, with approximately 20 businesses already on board. Ninja Van anticipates that this service will contribute to its revenue and overall profit in the near future.
In addition to expanding its delivery capabilities for perishable items, Ninja Van also introduced a restocking service for businesses, offering flexibility in managing inventory and reducing outlet space requirements.
Despite postponing plans for a stock market listing until profitability improves, Ninja Van continues to innovate and diversify its services, backed by support from investors like Alibaba Group Holding.
