Why Google and Bayer Will Build An AI Tool
Currently, there's a shortage of radiologists in the United States, according to the Radiological Society of North America. Coupled with mounting caseloads and increasing burnout rates among radiologists, there's a pressing need for solutions to alleviate these challenges.
Google Cloud's latest platform aims to address these issues by empowering radiologists to handle their tasks more efficiently, allowing them to focus on delivering quality care to more patients.
In a press release, President of Radiology at Bayer, Nelson Ambrogio, cited the availability of making work easier for healthcare professionals. "Radiology plays a vital role in healthcare, and the need to efficiently and accurately uncover insights and deliver solutions at scale that can improve patient outcomes has never been greater."
Meanwhile, Guido Mathews, Bayer's Vice President of radiology, expressed optimism about the platform's potential and revealed plans for testing and refining the product in collaboration with other healthcare organizations.
The partnership between Google Cloud and Bayer has been in progress for five years. It leverages Bayer's extensive experience in radiology to ensure smooth integration and user-friendly functionality for healthcare professionals. This collaboration represents a notable departure for Bayer as it transitions from its traditional focus on pharmaceutical products to service-oriented solutions.
