A young businesswoman who worked in the field of cybersecurity research has tragically passed away after bravely battling for her life following an accident with a speeding SUV on the Upper East Side during last week's rain showers, according to authorities.
A tragic incident occurred on Friday when Sophia D'Antoine, the 30-year-old founder of Margin Research, lost her life.

Sophia D'Antoine was struck by a speeding 2017 Land Rover SUV just a short distance from her apartment. The police have confirmed the details of the accident.
The tragic accident took place when Sophia D'Antoine was crossing York Avenue at East 87th Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2.
According to authorities, the Land Rover, driven by a 72-year-old man, crashed with a taxi after striking D'Antoine. The impact caused the taxi to crash into a parked, unoccupied 2022 Ford Explorer SUV.
According to records, D'Antoine resided on East 87th Street, just a short distance away from the location of the unfortunate accident.
Margin Research's website said she established the company, a security research firm based in NYC, in 2018.
D'Antoine was referred to as the 'Hacker in Residence' at NYU on a website for a cyber security event she had attended in the past.
Medics quickly transported the severely injured D'Antoine to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. Officials did not disclose the precise date of her death due to her injuries, but they informed Patch on Friday that she was still in critical condition.
A 62-year-old taxi driver was transported to New York City Health + Hospitals Elmhurst in a stable condition, while the driver of the Land Rover stayed at the scene.
Road Accident Involving Land Rover
The NYPD spokesperson confirmed that the Land Rover driver stayed at the scene and was not charged or issued a summons. According to officials, the investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is still ongoing and no arrests have been made as of Monday.
According to traffic summons data reviewed by Upper East Site, the Land Rover has been cited for speeding in a school zone five times in three years.
The taxi involved had a record of being caught by traffic cameras for speeding in a school zone 13 times in less than two years.
The role of the rainy weather during the crash remains uncertain. No arrests have been made by the NYPD in the case, but the investigation is still ongoing.
