The popularity of western boot is soaring, partly due to the release of Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' album and retailers and brands are enjoying wins.

According to data from Circana's Retail Tracking Service, sales of western style boots in the US have seen a significant increase of over 20 percent week over week since the debut of the superstar's country-inspired 'Cowboy Carter' album in late March.

Boot Sales Across US Jump After Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' Album Launch

After Beyoncé dropped her two singles during the Superbowl, there was a significant surge in the sales of western boots, with a 24 percent increase in unit sales that week. Furthermore, with the former song reaching the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, there was a significant increase of 45 percent in sales of western boots.

The release of 'Cowboy Carter' last month showcased the singer's venture into the country genre.

Prior to the official album release, there were significant increases in unit sales for this particular style of boot, as reported by Circana. These boosts were observed after the singles 'Texas Hold 'Em' and '16 Carriages'' were released.

The latest project from the 32-time Grammy winner contributes to the growing cultural appreciation for stagecoach-inspired fashion.

A new American Western line was showcased by Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. The collection included models donning cowboy hats and bolo ties, among other Western-inspired pieces.

According to CNBC, this style has gained popularity during the ongoing Eras Tour, with some attendees choosing to emulate Taylor Swift's earlier days as a country singer.

According to Sam Poser, an analyst at Williams Trading, Beyoncé's album topping the charts can potentially boost same-store sales and attract more female shoppers to Boot Barn.

An analyst recently revised his rating on a California-based retailer, upgrading it to buy. Along with the upgrade, he also increased the price target by $33 to $113, suggesting a potential upside of approximately 12%.

Poser mentioned that the start of busy seasons for rodeos and music festivals is contributing to the growing momentum. According to him, the positive trends indicate that the guidance for the current quarter and full fiscal year is expected to surpass the estimates of Wall Street consensus.

"According to Poser, there appears to be a clear connection between the rise in popularity of Western clothing and the release of Beyoncé's latest album."

Boot Barn shares have seen a notable increase of over 4% since the beginning of April, despite the overall market downturn.

The stock has experienced a significant rally throughout 2024, with shares surging approximately 30% since the beginning of the year.

Western Country Fashion Influence

Other than boots, Beyonce also gave a boost to other cowboy accessories. Boohoo, an e-tail company, reported a significant surge in global Google searches for "cowboy hat" after Beyoncé's Verizon commercial aired during the Super Bowl.

This commercial also marked the debut of her two new singles. There was a significant increase in searches for "cowboy boots" and "bolo tie," with a surge of 163 percent and 566 percent respectively.

Western-inspired fashion was a prominent feature in the fall collections of Schiaparelli, Isabel Marant, and Louis Vuitton, as seen on runways in New York and Europe. In his fall 2024 line, Christian Louboutin, the renowned bootmaker favored by Taylor Swift, also incorporated elements of cowboy style, according to Footwear News.
