A tram crashed at a Universal Studios amusement park in Southern California on Saturday night, injuring 15 people.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said that several passengers fell off the tram during a studio tour.
Universal Studios Tram Crash
The entertainment park stated in a statement that the "tram incident" caused "multiple minor injuries."
The accident occurred during the World-Famous Studio Tour of the Universal backlot. The four-car tram had just passed a "Jurassic Park" display and was making a turn when the last car crashed with a metal guardrail, "causing it to tilt and eject multiple passengers," according to a California Highway Patrol collision report.
"There was some type of issue with the brakes," Sheriff's Lt. Maria Abal told the Los Angeles Times. "We don't exactly know what yet."
An emergency call was issued at 9 p.m. Saturday, summoning rescuers to the park, which is part of the Universal Studios complex in Universal City, San Fernando Valley.
15 Injured in Los Angeles Theme Park Accident
According to the Highway Patrol, 15 tram passengers were brought to the hospital for treatment of "minor to moderate injuries," with drugs and alcohol not being considered concerns. The agency will continue its investigation.
Aerial footage from KCAL-TV in Los Angeles shows paramedics treating multiple injured clients and transporting at least one to a stretcher.
Abal told the Times that a tram at the theme park can accommodate more than 100 people. She was unsure how many passengers were on board at the time of the disaster.
According to the theme park's website, the tram excursion is one of its most popular attractions. The park commemorates the ride's 60th anniversary. The tram takes visitors behind the scenes of classic movie sets such as "Jaws," "King Kong," and "Fast & Furious."
